Introduction

On the occasion of the launch of our new trilingual publication Playing Bach in France and in China: An Encounter of Musicians in Macau, we devote this MRI Forum to reflection and discussion of recent developments in the music culture of pipe organ and classic sacred music, especially that of Bach, which have been initiated by our Institute in the St Joseph Seminary Church. This activity has recently been extended by the invitation of two specialists on Bach music and world-renowned performers, Yuan Shan from China and Philippe Charru, SJ, from France who have come to play in Macau. Our three speakers, Prof. Yuan Shan, Prof. David Urrows and our MRI Director, Fr Artur Wardega, will lead the discussion and at the end sign copies of the new book offered free to our audience. Everyone interested in Macau history and sacred music is very warmly invited to this friendly gathering and celebration.
